World War II forest defense records 1941-1946.

Series documents the participation of the Department of Forestry in national defense programs during World War II, primarily the control of incendiary forest fires. Forestry worked with the state and federal Defense Councils, the U.S. War Department, the Office of Civilian Defense, the U.S. Army, and the Western Defense Command. Records include correspondence, policy statements, emergency plans, regulations, resolutions, and maps. Subjects include anti-subversion programs, Nisei and Japanese internment, balloon bombs, burning regulations, the use of the army to control fires, training, blackout regulations, and state/federal cooperation.
